Mel Gibson Deserves Forgiveness and a Break!

Los Angeles, CA—We’ve all seen Mel Gibson at his best on the silver screen.

We’ve seen him at his worst when he was arrested for DUI and in a much over reported disastrous relationship with an unfortunate gold-digger.

Hollywood has blackballed this terrific actor and director.  Mel Gibson wants to work and he deserves the ability to create more blockbuster films.  Like it or not there is only one Mel Gibson.

Robert Downey, Jr. hit bottom and did a prison stretch too. Downey got out cleaned up but was unemployable.  He had more chapters to write in his interrupted career.  Downey was no longer insurable and despite his immense talent was through as an actor.  That was until Mel Gibson stepped in and covered the insurance for Downey.

Downey rebounded like a slingshot and film audiences and were never disappointed.  That was because of Gibson’s generosity and humanity. 

I know that Gibson is looking for new sources of funding for his film projects.  The door to Hollywood has been locked tightly but Gibson has moved on with good behavior for the last decade.  It’s time for the big talent agencies and producers to put this man back to work. 

Gibson has eight children to support and get through college.  Must Gibson’s  kids have to suffer too? At what point will Gibson’s social debt be paid?

It’s time for Hollywood to now show some kindness and faith to Gibson as he did Downey.  We all learn from example, and the Hollywood elite should now lead the way.   It should begin in the office of the head honcho, Ari Emanuel at Creative Artist’s Agency with an offer of representation extended to Gibson.

Frankly it would be a sound business practice.

Mel Gibson’s Mega-Mess

Los Angeles, CA—Mel Gibson entered his middle age crisis and hit a huge land mine. Her name is Oksana Grigorieva, a Russian immigrant and aspiring singer. Gibson stepped out of his long time marriage for a fling and wound up with a new baby. This was the result of Gibson’s little head telling the big head what to do.

The much younger Grigorieva quickly adapted to Gibson’s lavish wealth. I can’t help but believe she was a cunning predator with a big plan.

If Grigorieva somehow got pregnant that Catholic actor, would only do the right thing and be a father. Grigorieva did not want a father for the child but the lavish life sans, Gibson. The monthly child support checks would buy lots more than baby food and diapers. The kid is an absolute gold mine for this young woman.

Next, was the obligatory domestic discord. Gibson is well-known for his emotional outbursts and rants. He has no history of violence he simply likes to hear himself yell. Gibson has those buttons and when pushed he will blurt things out he does not mean and will regret later. Grigorieva pushed the buttons, along with the start switch on her recorder.

The loss of a dental cap with no trauma to her lips warrants a trip to the dentist and pictures to bolster Grigorieva’s claim of a beating. This story and the photos smell. Even Gibson’s long suffering wife, Robin didn’t buy that scam.

Grigorieva runs off to a legal, bottom feeder to get a demand in for a king’s ransom settlement. The agreement would protect Gibson’s reputation and prevent the star from taking a nasty perp-walk over criminal domestic violence allegations.

When Gibson refused to play Grigorieva’s way, it brought an apocalyptic meltdown. Horrific, world wide publicity exploded, his talent agent severed ties, and now millions had to be spent on lawyers.

Grigorieva hands are way too dirty. Lawyer after lawyer has accepted non-refundable retainers from her as they quickly withdrew from her case. Lawyers usually have escape clauses in their retainer agreements for clients that lie to them. Lies or not, the lawyers cannot testify against their clients under most conditions.

Police are confounded by monumental obstacles that most likely interfere with any criminal prosecution of Gibson. There is the issue of the surreptitious recordings made by Grigorieva and their inadmissibility in court against Gibson.

Prosecutors must determine whether to prosecute Grigorieva for the felony crime of making the recordings themselves. There is the not so small issue of criminal extortion. Most people don’t seem to know that you can’t threaten to report someone to police unless they come to a financial agreement. It’s documented that Grigorieva tried to work out a $15 million golden parachute for her silence.

For the love child, this is indeed horrible. Thankfully, no matter what his mother does right or wrong the kid will be well-supported at least with Gibson’s cash. I’d hope for a much better solution. That Grigorieva has her parental rights to the child severed and the kid is raised by Gibson. Gibson has demonstrated that he can raise children with his ex-wife Robin.

Gibson should get his life returned and perhaps Grigorieva should return where she came from, that is after she completes her court imposed punishment for extortion.

Whatever happens it will cost Gibson many millions of dollars.

Jews Police Reports Forgiveness And The Mel Gibson Meltdown

Harvey Levin’s TMZ.com told the story of Mel Gibson’s arrest in Malibu, California by L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies. It was a tale of bigotry and sexism by an admitted alcoholic while under the influence.

The words we say can too often hurt, insult and inflame others. The primary attack here was against Jews. Gibson's suggestion among others was that Jews were the cause of all the wars.

Anti-Semitism is as old as humanity. For some reason Jews have always been singled out for contempt by most other cultures. I’m no expert on this subject by any means but I have an idea for any and all Jews Gibson has offended.

The best way to show Gibson and all those who exhibit hate against the Jews is to take the high road. That is to openly accept Mel Gibson’s apology and show forgiveness for his outrageous conduct. Instead of trashing Gibson show him that Jews can be kind and forgiving. I would hope all Jews would extend their forgiveness, love and help as a real example of their own humanity and teachings.

Having been a cop and after looking over the debacle involved with TMZ’s so-called police report cover-up story angle, I concluded that TMZ assertions are incorrect. I must say that the four pages of a report published by TMZ was not up to normal police reporting standards anywhere in America.

On a DUI arrest officers are simply to establish probable cause for the arrest. That includes the driving behavior that led to the stop, the officer’s observations of the driver’s condition, level of impairment and all sobriety tests performed. Writing pages documenting every goofy thing that the suspect says is never called for unless they are criminal threats that bring additional charges.

If Harvey Levin’s accounts are true that the arresting officer was ordered to re-write his report that was no a cover-up but an effort to make sure the report is up to acceptable police agency standards. I suspect that a very offended officer that wanted to expose Gibson’s drunken statements for additional punishment wrote those published pages of the report. Cooler heads obviously prevailed at the Sheriff’s department.

Remember police reports are to document crimes. Drunk driving is a crime but dumb anti-Semitic rants are not.

Video taping of the suspect’s activities and statements is always proper so that a court and jury can later see for themselves the level of the suspect’s impairment in order to pass judgment.

A side note: Apparently the high profile actor also referred to a lady Sheriff’s sergeant as, “Sugar Tit’s” (please excuse me for grinning here). Why do I suspect that this poor gal will carry that new moniker throughout her entire police career?

The Wrath Of Hollywood Jews Blacklisting And Collateral Damage

Hollywood is the land of dreams. Hopeful writers, actors, producers, and an entire food chain of artist wait sometimes years for a chance to work on a worthwhile film project. ABC had recently green lighted a mini series that revolves around a pair of lovers trapped during the Holocaust.

Some 25 years ago there was another TV mini series called Holocaust that launched the careers of at least two of today’s mega actors, Meryl Streep and James Woods. I personally know too many actors and writers that are on the verge of living in their cars in order to fulfill their dreams of entertaining their fellow man. For the lucky ones, they finally receive an offer for their first big break that they’ve sacrificed so much to win.

Imagine you’ve waited years for your chance and your new project involves actor/director Mel Gibson and ABC cancels your job. Now you won’t get the chance to put food on your table. Apparently that’s exactly what’s happening as ABC exacts retribution against Mel Gibson for his drunken anti-Semitic rant.

I want to ask ABC and Rabbi Marvin Heir, dean and founder of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a Jewish human rights group that asked that this project to be cancelled to please reconsider blacklisting Mel Gibson. Why? Because of the collateral damage that will be done to so many other artist’s livelihoods that were intended to work on a meaningful project.

Forgiveness would send a much larger message to the wealthy Gibson and bigots everywhere that blacklisting him while punishing innocent and needy artists can never accomplish. I ask, if being a Jew means that you never have to forgive anyone?

August 2, 2006 -- There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who thinks or expresses any kind of Anti-Semitic remark. I want to apologize specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words that I said to a law enforcement officer the night I was arrested on a DUI charge.

I am a public person, and when I say something, either articulated and thought out, or blurted out in a moment of insanity, my words carry weight in the public arena. As a result, I must assume personal responsibility for my words and apologize directly to those who have been hurt and offended by those words.

The tenets of what I profess to believe necessitate that I exercise charity and tolerance as a way of life. Every human being is God’s child, and if I wish to honor my God I have to honor his children. But please know from my heart that I am not an anti-Semite. I am not a bigot. Hatred of any kind goes against my faith.

I’m not just asking for forgiveness. I would like to take it one step further, and meet with leaders in the Jewish community, with whom I can have a one on one discussion to discern the appropriate path for healing.

I have begun an ongoing program of recovery and what I am now realizing is that I cannot do it alone. I am in the process of understanding where those vicious words came from during that drunken display, and I am asking the Jewish community, whom I have personally offended, to help me on my journey through recovery. Again, I am reaching out to the Jewish community for its help. I know there will be many in that community who will want nothing to do with me, and that would be understandable. But I pray that that door is not forever closed.

This is not about a film. Nor is it about artistic license. This is about real life and recognizing the consequences hurtful words can have. It’s about existing in harmony in a world that seems to have gone mad.

L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy James Mee Is In Hot Water Over Mel Gibson Arrest

I long suspected who and what was behind the publicity overdrive on actor Mel Gibson’s recent DUI arrest in Malibu. I could not help but focus my thoughts on the arresting deputy who happens to be Jewish as the source of leaked reports and perhaps a retaliation campaign to embarrass the tipsy actor.

TMZ.com published a story today about a search warrant being served on Deputy Mee in connection of leaking four pages of an early report of Gibson’s arrest. TMZ’s Top Gun, Harvey Levin was the happy recipient of the unlawfully leaked records and proceeded to beat that story to death screaming about a Sheriff’s cover-up of Mel Gibson’s bigoted verbal tirade.

Harvey Levin is a lawyer and knows full well that racially insensitive speech, even made by a drunken driver is protected in America under the First Amendment. Since the insensitive speech is not a crime it’s incredibly inappropriate for a cop to include a four-page summary of the speech with in a report about a crime. That's especially true when the speech does not impact or somehow aggravate the crime such as in a physical assault.

It’s obvious that Deputy Mee was really offended to try and put all that crap in his report. I say that’s too bad because being insulted by arrestees is a real part of police work. If you don’t have really thick skin becoming a cop is a horrible idea. The issue was not drunken speech but drunken driving.

TMZ and Levin have criticized the L.A. County Sheriff's department, constantly clamoring that there was a cover-up to protect Gibson. If that were the case Gibson would never have been charged or convicted of DUI. Harvey needs loosen up but that would not bring needed readers to TMZ.com.

As for Deputy James Mee, I hope he did not somehow profit from leaking information. If he did, I wonder if Harvey Levin will hire Mee at TMZ when he gets fired?

The L.A. County Deputy sheriff that arrested Mel Gibson is Jewish

This makes the Gibson’s tantrum story much more understandable. It was Gibson’s angry reaction once he learned he was getting arrested. Nearly every cop in America has been the target of those personal, verbal attacks where the drunk driver throws every insult under the son at us. Deputy James Mee who is Jewish was on the receiving end of Gibson’s offensive rant.

Gibson was and is a big shot in Malibu and as such felt he should be immune from arrest, at least in his own mind. When Gibson was not getting out of being arrested he acted like a spoiled kid. This also explains why this arrest and the conduct was leaked to TMZ.com and published worldwide.

The four pages of Deputy Mee’s report that TMX.com published was obviously designed to make a case for the tabloids rather than the court. The other side of the coin here is that anyone who tries to offend a cop does so at their own peril. It’s fair to say Gibson got what he deserved. Usually the goofs we arrest who pull this crap have nothing to lose and nobody ever cares what they call us. This time it was very different.

Gibson's war of words was directed at one cop, not evry Jew on the planet. That does not make this right but understandable. Gibson was not simply going home but to a jail cell at least for a little while.

Gibson has taken responsibility and profusely apologized for his temper tantrum. I think that Deputy Mee also sees that his anger may have influenced his handling of this arrest. There is no winner here.

Is TMZ.com Boss Harvey Levin A Cyberspace Troll?

I’ve only met Levin once and that was last October when TMZ.com was being launched. Levin is a sharp lawyer, promoter and TV producer.

TMZ.com is a website/blog not unlike Crimefile. The difference is a staff of two-dozen seasoned photographers, producers and webmeisters in the TMZ stable and the non-stop popular Hollywood gossip. TMZ’s content along with well paying sponsors keep TMZ afloat. Crime Guns and Video Tape is still just a labor of love.

The Mel Gibson DUI/Jew baiting rant is Levin’s hottest story yet. For Levin this is his breakout and vindication as the Captain of the TMZ ship. Levin’s job is to continue throwing gasoline on this bonfire and make TMZ a household name.

Is Levin hurting an alcoholic for his own gain? I don’t really think so. I see this outrageous event ending in a huge love-in where Gibson comes out healthy, wealthy and wise from the hype. America likes to forgive the high profile repentant.

In the very end TMZ's Managing Editor, Harvey Levin will somehow make Mel Gibson even more popular and sell more tickets to his movies.

Actor, Mel Gibson May be Closer To Being Rid of his Nightmare

Los Angeles, CA--According to postings over at TMZ.com, Oksana Grigorieva’s computer data was seized by sheriff’s investigators armed with a search warrant. I suspect a full forensic examination of this computer may reveal evidence of a conspiracy to commit extortion. E-mails, chat histories, visited websites will lead to many additional avenues to locate evidence.

TMZ also reported that Grigorieva’s unlicensed convicted felon bodyguard, Kristian Herzog is exploring publishing a book that will chronicle his alleged sexual relationship and other activities with her. I can’t imagine sheriff’s investigators not grilling this fellow about any evidence of Grigorieva’s efforts to mislead police and prosecutors. The bodyguard reportedly has loads of text messages and other scandalous pillow talk material he’s marketing while it’s hot. Selling his story and material would however cheapen it's value as evidence in any courtroom.

I would not be surprised to learn that other people's computers have been seized by investigators during this investigation. I'm sure that Grigorieva had plenty of pals giving her advice on how to victimize Gibson that may now face conspiracy charges too.

The information on Grigorieva’s computer will never see the inside of any courtroom as evidence without a live witness that can testify about it because it would be considered hearsay. Prosecutors may well provide immunity to the bodyguard for his crime of acting as a PI without a license and other potential matters in exchange for his testimony. He is said to already be on probation.

Grigorieva’s banking records will also provide plenty of evidence that may be this woman’s undoing. I suspect that Grigorieva’s latest lawyers including the Grand Dame of all Bottom Feeders, Gloria Allred’s daughter, Lisa Bloom will be withdrawing like all the others. Grigorieva will however, wind up with a criminal lawyer who will have to deal with allegations of extortion and possible conspiracy.

I’m going out on a limb to predict that Grigorieva will lose any hope of more payments from Gibson as her parental rights to the child are severed as this extortion investigation explodes in both a family court and a criminal court.

An Update:
Oksana Grigorieva’s lawyer filed a motion seeking return of a copy of the mirror data image of her MacBook Pro hard drive seized from a Fountain Valley private investigation firm.

The search warrant could only have been issued if there was probable cause of a felony crime, and an explanation of what evidence they expected to find.

The felony crime involved is extortion however the Probable Cause Affidavit is still under seal. This affidavit explains the Sheriff’s case and sources for information that justified the warrant. The Sheriff’s response to Oksana Grigorieva’s motion revealed some telling details of the criminal investigation.

It is clear from the Sheriff’s response to the motion Oksana Grigorieva’s lawyer filed that she’s apparently is in a heap of trouble. All signs point in the direction that the little Russian lady may be taking the Perpwalk very soon.

My Reaction to Quentin Tarantino’s Recent Denouncement of America’s Cops

Hollywood, CA—I salute every performer or artist in the world for his or her contributions both big and small.  What a horrible world we’d be living in without the art, music, films, plays, dance and comedy.

We all have our favorites celebrities.  Sometimes we are disappointed or shocked upon learning their personal politics or attitudes.  Sean Penn, Jane Fonda and Barbara Streisand immediately come to mind. After Hollywood's Blacklisting of Leftist artists in the 1950's it's now those artists on the Right getting the treatment.  Mel Gibson and James Woods are two of today's examples.

I’m perhaps overly tolerant all people when in comes to those whose views are totally opposite of mine.  Sometimes those people have been indoctrinated their entire lives and believe every lie ever broadcast or published.  My job is to lead them by tolerance, kindness and example.

I’m a really Conservative Libertarian.  In Hollywood I’ve meet some really Left of center people that are incredibly talented and kind.  Actor Martin Sheen is a great example.  Sheen told me how he wanted to be a NYPD officer, applied and was promptly rejected when he fell ½ inch too short.

Sheen actually wanted to get my script, Come Friday about the Chicago policewoman hero Annie Leybourne made into a feature film. .  He spent some serious time hooking me up with his talent agency, ICM.   The film has still not yet been made because of issues not under his or my control. 

Recently mainstream media has given a massive soapbox to professional race baiters like Jessie Jackson and Al Starpton.  Every young African-American criminal killed by a white cop is treated like a innocent victim of a KKK lynching.  This is in part because both print and broadcast media is dying and they hope to prolong their existence with the sensationalism they too often create.

Now comes a somewhat self taught and gifted writer/film director into to the limelight for making ignorant, and hurtful denouncements of the men and women of law enforcement.   Yep, Quentin Tarantino took the floor of the debate and managed to offend thousands including me.

The immediate reaction of my cop friends was to call for a boycott of Tarantino’s films.  I was hoping the law enforcement community would put more thought into their reaction showing more tolerance than Tarantino.  That was not the case however.

There is a lot more than Tarantino involved here.  There are hundreds of fine men and women in the cast and crew of his films.  We’ve all see the endless credits rolling after every film. Punishing Tarantino also victimizes them.

Do we want to kill the hope and dreams of the young actors lucky enough to land a role in a Tarantino film?

Tarantino was emotional and convinced that he was addressing valid concerns.  I’m sure he never once thought about how politicians keep criminalizing more and more conduct.  I’m sure he never though of how the politicians have turned cops into extortionist bagmen to collect excessive fines from citizens for very trivial violations.

I say that it’s okay to rebuke Tarantino but a boycott of his films that we’ve all enjoyed is not the answer.  Let’s show Tarantino that our skin is much thicker than we’ve displayed so far.  I think all of us are guilty of putting our foot in our mouths at one time or another.  Go see his new film and judge it on its own merit.  I’m not going to miss the film, Hateful Eight.

When I have my next chat with Tarantino I will let him know that more than the cops, he hurt their wives and children more by his rash remarks.  I will forgive Tarantino for his thoughtless rant just as I ask my Liberal friends to overlook mine.  It’s going to be really difficult for Tarantino to save face here.  Let’s help him along.

Racial Slurs By Imus And Others In America

Yes, racial hatred is ugly and those who use racial slurs in a hurtful manner are ignorant jerks. But now I have to ask, what ever happened to the idea that stick and stones make break my bones but names will never hurt me?

We as a society have given in to way too much sensitivity and political correctness. We have placed far more importance on people using racist language. By doing that we also made those words far more shocking and hurtful.

Every ethnic group on this earth has been the target of bad humor and insults. Ignorant statements attributed to Don Imus, Mel Gibson and a few others just don’t deserve the attention they have received. Giving such importance to people making racial invites even more such statements. It’s time for all of us to lighten up, thicken our skins and ignore these unimportant people.
